I’m very happy with this vacuum. I didn’t have a lot of money to spend, and my previous vacuums have all broken or blown up in the last month which sucked. I had purchased a dirt devil handheld and it burnt out after one heavy duty vacuuming session I didn’t anticipate. Three weeks of having it. My other one got a giant sock stuck in it and was not able to be reached to come out w out cutting the tubing. It is fall here in New York and it is rainy, muddy, and lots of shredded leaves everywhere. I have been out of my mind being unable to vacuum our apartment all this time. I finally ordered this vacuum yesterday, got it today, and I am already very happy. I used it immediately upon receipt and it was a dream. It rolled over hardwood floors very smoothly and picked up all sorts of crumbs in the kitchen. I used it in the bathroom to vacuum up stray hairs. I used it in my sons room to pick up spilled formula powder on the wood floor, and other dirt on his area rug. I used it in our master bedroom which is carpeted. I was able to clearly see dirt and particles being lifted off of a very low pile carpet. I used it in my living room and it picked up everything perfectly. I have lots of different flooring in my rental apartment. This thing was perfect. Even though it’s basically a handheld dust vac with a floor attachment, I never got the feeling that it was. The suction is very good, such that wherever I put that thing it sucked stuff up, even along the outer areas of the floor attachment. Ok rugs it works best going backward towards you, as it skips along the rug when pushed fwd but I jsut did it nice and slow and I am confident it was picking up dirt and hair. I even used it on a small shag rug. I did not detach the handheld for that option this time, but I fully intend to in the future. Although it was far more comfortable in its full upright mode. And it’s so lightweight and portable I don’t foresee using it as a handheld only very often. my pictures show what it looks like fully upright, up close, and the canister with contents after my very first use of it. I cannot even believe how much crap there was on my floors in just like a week of not vacuuming. I had been sweeping during that time and was grossed out seeing how much was actually on the floors despite that. I love having visuals like seeing the grossness in the canister lol. The bagless canister is convenient, I am used to vacuums like that and I know that they are very easy to clean and the filter is rinsable. I saw some reviews mention the length of the cord. I actually did not really have too much of a problem with that. I could have used it being 5 feet longer or more but Another 2 feet would not have mattered to me at all. Whether it’s 10 feetOr 12ft wouldn’t make or break a vacuum session for me. Our apartment isn’t small but it’s nothing close to a house. I do have a million outlets all over my apartment so it really wasn’t difficult. It swivels nicely and I can totally get it into weird angles and zoom around the floors nicely. I plan to use it on my entryway and the stairs up to my apartment tomorrow. Those are completely destroyed from leaves and all sorts of crap. So far I am very happy with this purchase! Excellent price excellent suction, excellent results.Update 2 weeks later: I use this vaccum about four times a week. I still use it on all sorts of surfaces like carpet, floor, stairs, entry way, play mat, couch, etc. I am still very happy w the suction and effectiveness of the vacuum. As I’ve used it more and more there are some annoyances that’s rent major but certainly worth mentioning: 1) the feature of just using it as a hand vac is impractical in my opinion. If I am vacuuming and decide I want to spot clean something w the hand vac option it is very cumbersome to achieve. Between the long handle piece and trying to yank out the floor attachment it ends up being far mor effort than is necessary when I jsut end up using the floor attachment on whatever. If I am going to use the hand vac alone it is from the beginning, not during a routine vacuuming. So I’d recommend doing it that way in general. 2) the swivel feature is fantastic but sometimes causes twisting and tangling of the cord around the lower part of the vacuum. Also if you want to lift the vacuum to move it while vacuuming it can often spin and you’re like twisting the whole thing around to get it back in line w itself. 3) the power switch being on the hand vac and fairly low down is a pain. I know there’s really no other way to do it but it is a little annoying. Otherwise though I am super happy w this purchase especially for the price. It is perfect for an apartment, or as a basement vacuum or for other smaller spaces that you don’t want to lug a giant heavy vacuum. I did clean the filter and canister once and it was very easy. The filter dried by the window in about two hours. I still love it and totally recommend it.UPDATE 2/12 months later**** still loving it. I use it about every other day. I’ve cleaned the filter many times no issues. Suction still seems good. It’s been picking up small Christmas tree pine needles perfectly. It does not like hair embedded into carpet, even low pile. I had a baby a few months ago and my hair is starting to shed horribly now. I get insane about stepping on hair so I vacuum a lot. But I thought it was picking up hair on the rug in our living room and just for sh*ts and giggles I took tape and used it on the rug to see, and basically every hair I’ve ever shed was still in the carpet. Hardwood floor? Yes no problem but carpets no. At least now I know lol. Otherwise it’s just a simple and generally effective little vacuum. Still recommendA little background:My home is one-story, 1,000 sq. feet, mostly terrazzo, with some laminate wood flooring, and low-pile carpet mats at the entries. I have more cats than a normal person should have (one long-haired, two medium-haired, and three short-haired), and a retired husband who enjoys the beach. I vacuum twice a day.My vacuum requirements, non-negotiable:A long cord; this one is 30 feet. A large dust cup; this one is 1 liter. Goes under beds/furniture; check. My experience after using the Flash twice a day, 15 to 20 minutes each time, for two weeks:I have never owned a vacuum like this and did have to go through a learning curve the first time I used it. Some reviewers mention that the floor nozzle seems to lift up off of the floor. I too experienced that, but found that if I kept my arm almost straight, which keeps the handle low, and use long back and forth movements I did not have that problem. In smaller areas where you need more precise, short movements, I just bent my arm a little bit, which brings the handle up, and that did the trick for me. The floor nozzle is motorized, which helps propel it forward; I had no problems pulling it backwards. This is a very quiet vacuum, and does not scare the cats as much as my previous vacuum. The total weight is 7.4 pounds; I took it apart, weighing just the hand vacuum portion and it is 5 pounds. I am in my mid-50’s and for me the weight was not an issue. The on/off slide switch is conveniently located on the handle, and also controls the two speeds for the motorized brush roll (which cannot be deactivated); the 1st position/speed is for bare floors, and the 2nd position/speed is for carpet/rugs. It picked up everything in a single pass on the bare floors, with a couple passes needed on the carpet mats, which is typical in my experience. (My entry mats are adhered to the floors with carpet-tape because I was tired of re-positioning them whenever the cats and/or hubby moved them out of place. Not sure if there would have been an issue with the vacuum trying to suck them up if they weren’t adhered.) Some motorized brush rolls seem to throw back the litter/cat food instead of vacuuming it up, but that was not an issue for the Flash. I keep an eye on the brush roll in case anything gets stuck/wrapped in it, but it is easy to take care of if that happens. Since it has a 30 foot long cord (and I have a small home) I can vacuum my WFH office, bedroom, hall, bathroom and living room from one plug. One more plug gets the dining area, kitchen and bonus room. The 1 liter dust cup is very easy to empty; since there is a lot of dust when emptying I do that in the trash can in the garage. I empty it once a day, whether it needs it or not. Even though the Flash comes with a crevice tool and a 2-in-1 upholstery tool (which can be stored on the stand, not on the vacuum), I did not plan to use it for above the floor cleaning, such as drapes, blinds, furniture. In my past experience, stick-type vacuums were too awkward and inefficient to use for that type of cleaning. Since the Flash did such a great job on my floors, I decided to test it out with some above the floor cleaning. I quickly and easily removed the floor nozzle, attached the crevice tool to the wand, and used it to grab some cobwebs from a corner of the ceiling. The reach was the perfect length, there was no hose to mess with, and it was not heavy or awkward to use. The Flash also comes apart and back together in so many different ways, I think it will be able to clean any area of my home with no problems. It is important to know that the vacuum does not stand on its own, so if you are in the middle of cleaning and need to stop you could try leaning it against the wall or a piece of furniture. I didn’t want to take a chance that it might fall over so I just lay it flat and out of my way. The Flash comes with a storage stand, which holds the two tools and the vacuum. You will need to detach the hand vacuum portion from the wand/floor nozzle portion to put it on the stand, but it takes just the click of a button to separate the two sections. I have not dealt with the filters yet, but they are easy to access and the manual says that they are washable. I reached out to Eureka to find out where to buy another set or two so that I always have a clean, dry set, but was told that because this is a new vacuum that the filters are not yet available to purchase separately, from them or anyone else. They assured me that the filters would/should be available at some point, could not give me an ETA, and suggested I check back with them later. I will update my post as soon as I have any information about the filters. Was really excited to give this to my elderly mother as a lightweight vacuum but when it arrived it has a European 2 pin plug. I asked my electrician neighbour to advise me on an adaptor but after looking at the voltage he realized it is incompatible and cannot be used in the uk. Shame, as it looked such a good buy.Update - three weeks later I have yet to receive my money back. Seller refusing to refund my money and my vacuum is waiting in a depot in Germany with the seller refusing to collect. Avoid this seller and this product at all costs. I bought this vacuum in Feb. 2021 and only use it lightly. I have a small place with only adults in it. The hose connecting the head to the pipe split about two months ago. I tried to fix it, but the fix did work.I have had Eureka products before and they are well built. Vaccine is light, has good suction, swings from rugs to floors with flick of switch. No bags to change just empty reservoir and ready to go. Eureka is a dependable machine.
